Limited has, for many years, been at the forefront
of this market developing a comprehensive range of silicone
rubber products which are now used in hugely diverse applications—from
the automotive, vending and aeronautics industries to
pharmaceutical and food processing. Silex’s partner,
Abbeychart, is pleased to offer a full range of products
made in silicone.

A
comprehensive range of tubing, with bore sizes from
0.5 mm up to 180 mm, meets the demands of practically
any application. Manufactured to BS2848 the smallest
tubing manufactured by Silex is most commonly used
as electrical sleeving, whilst midrange sizes are
generally used to carry liquids and powders within
the food processing, and pharmaceutical industries.
Silex
offers a wide selection of Water Council, National
Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) approved materials for use
specifically within hygiene-critical applications.

Many
approved colours are available and we can also
supply twin tubing. Increasingly New Generation
platinum is the preferred material that gives
excellent resistance to taste and taint or alternatively
also available is general purpose silicone that
we cure with a special long cure technique.
Shore hardness available from 40° to 70°.
In
response to customer demand, Silex has developed
a specialised process during which single or
double permanent striping in any colour can
be introduced along the length of the extrudate.

| Braided
and Mendrel Built Hoses |

Silex
pioneered the market for clear and braided silicone
hose, first introducing this rugged product to
the UK at a time when existing non-silicone hoses
were failing to perform. This range has been extended
and complemented with the addition of mandrel
built hoses, so that customers can now choose
from 3 mm bore to 101 mm bore.
Standard
braided hoses are available in 3 mm to 25 mm bore
size whilst the mandrel built hoses range from
12.5 mm to 101 mm bore, with wire helix for vacuum
applications and without for standard pressure
requirements.

Although
products held in stock are predominantly translucent,
primarily to meet the demands of the food and
beverage industries, other colours are available
on request.
